Physical Chemistry

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Physical Chemistry I covers the subjects of modern quantum theory, which includes the derivation of Schöendiger Equation, simple solution of the equation-particle in a box, harmonic oscillator atomic structure and term symbols. Equations of states, laws of thermodynamics, chemical equilibria, phase equilibrium.
Prerequisites: Physics 203
Prerequisites or co-requisites: Chem 361, Math 275 or 276
FORMAT: Three hours of lectures and one four hour laboratory work each week. Homework assignments, mid-term examination and final examination. Twenty percent of final grade for the course is based on laboratory work.
