Rogier van der Weyden (2)

The Annunciation above in the Louvre from about 1435 is understood to be an early work of Rogier. In it detect the connections to the works of his teacher, Robert Campin, and that of his great northern predecessor, Jan van Eyck.

Consider Rogier's famous painting in the Prado of the Descent from the Cross, dated to about 1435-38:

Madonna and Child, c. 1440, Prado

Miraflores Altarpiece, c. 1440-1444.
