Many members of the community
utilize the different public transportation services in Oneonta. These
services are especially useful for the college population in the city.
The main bus line is the
Oneonta
Public Transit, or OPT. It runs five different lines around Oneonta.
These lines run to River street, the east end, the west end, southside,
and Cooperstown. They also run shuttles to and from the local colleges.
In addition to the Oneonta Public
Transit system, the
Otsego
Express, or "Gus the Bus" , and a handful of taxi services provide
public transportation services in the area. Otsego Express runs several
routes throughout Otsego county, giving Oneonta public transportation
outside the city.
For travel to and from Oneonta,
there are nationally recognized bus lines that have stations in Oneonta.
These bus lines run statewide and nationally. The station for these bus
lines is located on Market St, in downtown Oneonta. The station is built
into the bottom level of Oneonta's parking garage.
