Southside is Oneonta's main commercial shopping area. This strip along route 23 is the center for Oneonta's economic growth of mainstream businesses. The Southside mall is one of the main businesses in the area, housing department stores, specialty stores, eateries and a movie theater. Other highlights of southside area include a large 24 hour grocery store, a hardware store, wholesale club store, and numerous eateries scattered along the strip.

Southside is accessible from the south end of Main St, or by Lettis Highway, near central Main St. Exit 15 off of interstate 88 also brings you to the southside shopping area.
