Public Safety

Oneonta has a wide range of police forces protecting the community. The Oneonta Police Department is stationed at the Oneonta Public Safety Building on Main St. They are the main police force for the city. In addition to the Oneonta Police Department, Oneonta is protected by New York State Police, New York State University Police, Otsego County Sheriff's, and the Town Constables.

The New York State Police department is located on Oneida St, off of exit 13 of interstate 88. The New York State University Police are part of SUNY Oneonta and control campus issues. The Town Constables patrol and maintain the town of Oneonta while the Otsego County Sheriff's department works with Oneonta and the surrounding county.

The community of Oneonta maintains a very low crime rate. Members of the community, as well as the different police forces, work together to keep a low crime record.  Oneonta remains a very safe and family-oriented community.
