Central Oneonta

Known for it's historic district, central Oneonta holds much of the communities history. The Walnut St. area is an official historic district, containing 44 structures. Some of the highlights being the Wilber Mansion, built by the founder of Wilber bank, and the Bresee House, built by the founder of Oneonta's old time department store.

Today this area is home to a variety of Oneonta's residents. The traditional atmosphere and old homes are enjoyed by the older generations of Oneonta. The centrally located Center St. Elementary school has also brought a portion of Oneonta's younger families to the neighborhood. With it's close proximity to the colleges, the neighborhood also provides a number of student rentals for college students.

The central Oneonta neighborhood is in walking distance of Main St, Wilber park, and numerous family owned deli's.
