Located on the south side of
Main
St, Belmont Circle is a neighborhood based around the street of Belmont
Circle and Hudson St, running through the circle and dividing it in
half. Originally the area was a fairgrounds, hosting the New York State
Fair before World War 1. The circle developed around the race track
located on the fairgrounds.
Today, Belmont Circle is a quiet,
low traffic, family-oriented neighborhood.
Valleyview Elementary school
lies just east of the circle, bringing a portion of Oneonta's youth to
the neighborhood. Belmont Circle is also located just behind
AO Fox Memorial Hospital and other
healthcare services.
