SPAN 340 Literature of the Hispanic Caribbean
Study of contemporary Hispanic Caribbean literature and culture. Covers works of 20th century writers from Puerto Rico, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and the Caribbean coast of South and Central America, including Julia de Burgos, Pales Matos, Nicolas Guillen, Ana Lydia Vega, Rosario Ferre, Cabrera Infante, and others. Course will be conducted in Spanish and among other work, students will be required to write a 10-12pp research paper in Spanish. Offered irregularly. (LA)
