EHIS 232 History of European Witchcraft
Examines the phenomenon of European witchcraft from its rise in the Middle Ages to its decline in the 18th century. Topics include: growth of a witchcraze and the backgrounds of those accused of witchcraft. Also examines the political, economic, and religious climate as a basis for discussion of the role of women and methods used to convict the accused. Offered irregularly. (LA)
