Joliana was very involved in extracurricular activities at Oneonta. She was on the executive board of the campus television studio: The Wire. She was a member of HOLA (Hispanic Organization of Learning Advancement), OMU (Open Minded Unity), Lambda Pi Eta (National Communication Honors Society) and Omicron Delta Kappa (National Leadership Honors Society). She studied abroad in Italy and Greece where she took classes in art history and digital landscape photography.
