Summer Programs 2008 |
SUNY College at Oneonta hosts several summer programs for various interests and ages of youth. We host programs in sports, science, and music. Some of our programs are run by our own faculty, coaches and students, and some of the programs are run by outside private groups.
We support a strong safety program, and welcome youth to campus to get a sample of the exciting activities taking place at our college. 5th Annual Red Dragon Basketball Camp for boys and girls ages 6-17 to be held July 14-18, 2008 from 9am-3pm in the Alumni Field House. Each camper will receive a camp basketball and t-shirt. The cost is $140.00. For more information and a brochure please contact:

Oneonta State Women’s Basketball Camp

Oneonta State Women’s Basketball will host a girl’s developmental overnight/commuter camp. Camp counselors will include the present team members. The camp is designed to develop basic fundamentals of the game. Daily activities include: one on one and three on three instruction; fundamental stations; and games. The camp will be held July 20-24, for girls ages 10-18. Camp begins Sunday evening at 6pm and ends Thursday afternoon at 4pm. Cost: Resident - $375 Commuter - $300
Groups of 5 or more from the same school may deduct $10 from the full price of the camp; provided all team members register together.
Early Application Deadline: A $35 non-refundable deposit is required with this application. You may deduct $10 if you application and full payment are received on or before June 1, 2008.
All registrations received after July 5, 2008; require payment in full at time of registration.

Women’s Basketball Team Camp

First Annual Red Dragons Girls basketball team camp. For JV and Varsity levels. To be held July 11th, 12th, and 13th, 2008 at the Oneonta State Campus. Minimum of 5 games for each team. Presentation by the Oneonta State Coaching Staff are included.

FCCLA is Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. It is a student leadership organization under the advisorship of Family and Consumer Science teachers. We are sponsored by the Human Ecology Department (training of FCS teachers). Our members are middle and high school students.

The Headwaters Soccer Club is non-profit service organization that operates seven consecutive day camps, with one being on the campus of SUNY Oneonta. The camp runs daily from 9:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday for boys and girls ages 7-17. Because of the continued support from area businesses, foundations and private donations each session is $60.00 with own ball or $75.00 and a ball will be provided. The camp at SUNY Oneonta will be held August 11-15.

Munchkin All-Sport Camp

This summer the Oneonta State women's soccer team will present the 12th Annual Eastman Associates Munchkin All-Sport Camp. The Camp has blossomed into a local retreat for children to grow socially and recreate. Children will be exposed to game and skill instruction in a variety of activities to include: soccer, tennis, racquetball, track & field, kickball, basketball, badminton, volleyball and T-ball.
The camp will be held July 28-31, 2008 at Oneonta State College from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm daily for boys and girls 5-12 years old.
The cost is $60 per camper. Each participant is asked to bring:
· Comfortable athletic attire
· Sneakers
· Lunch
Each camper will receive a t-shirt donated by Domino’s Pizza, located at 20 Clinton Plaza, and the Oneonta Shirt Company located at 464 Main Street. Water bottles are provided by Wachovia Securities.

York State Music Festival - NYSMF |
|
The New York Summer Music Festival (http://www.nysmf.org) is an advanced level music camp for young musicians ages 10-25, running for six weeks (June 29 - August 9, 2008) in three sessions of two weeks each. Up to 400 students from around the world meet daily in NYSMF's 50 ensembles and classes, and perform over 30 professional level concerts every summer. Performances are held in Goodrich Theatre, Hamblin Theatre, and the outdoor Amphitheatre in the Fine Arts Building. The full concert schedule is listed on http://calendar.yahoo.com/nysmf, and all concerts are open to the public.
NYSMF's professional music faculty are drawn from the top musical institutions in the world, including the Curtis Institute of Music, the Juilliard School, the Manhattan School of Music, and the New York Pops Orchestra; additionally, NYSMF's Visiting Artist program includes internationally renowned artists from the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, and many more.

PR²EPS

The PR²EPS (Preparation, Recruitment, Retention and Excellence in the
Physical Sciences) Camp is a 1-week, residential hands-on Science
Summer Camp for high school students who aspire to study chemistry,
physics, earth sciences, engineering, biochemistry, astronomy,
computer science or secondary science education in College. This
camp, offered at NO COST to participants, is funded by the National
Science Foundation. Campers live on campus for the week and work in
small groups with college faculty and science majors on projects
involving chemical analysis, engineering, physics and geosciences.
Typical projects include the construction of high-pressure water
bottle rockets and modeling their performance with computer software,
chemical analysis of illict drugs, investigations of geological
formations and more. Camp includes social activities as well as the
science components. The 2008 camp runs from 29-June through 3-July.
Dates for the 2009 camp will be available in Fall 2008.

2008 First Annual Liz Wagner Fastpitch Camps (EAW LLC)

This summer, Oneonta State Softball Head Coach, Liz Wagner, will be holding her First Annual Liz Wagner Fastpitch Camps. Skill instruction will be provided by the OState softball coaching staff as well as current and former OState softball players. Week one will consist of four separate skill specific clinics held over three days while week two will be a three day commuter camp; multiple players from a particular team are encouraged to attend together. Campers from grades 4 – 12 are welcome. For safety purposes athletes will be grouped appropriately.
Each athlete will receive a camp T-shirt and an official NCAA Championship Worth softball.

Summer
Leadership Conference

Sponsored by the New York State Migrant Youth Program through the State Education Department and the SUNY Research Foundation. The Summer Leadership Conference is a one week program held on campus from July 13-18 for high school students from migrant farmworker families. Students stay at Morris Conference Center where they attend classes and seminars. They go on educational and recreational field trips and learn about careers, college, and financial aid.

Oneonta State Women's Volleyball Camp

Oneonta State Volleyball will host a girls' general skills overnight/commuter camp. Camp counselors are the Oneonta State Women's Volleyball team. Designed to develop and fine tune the correct fundamentals of setting, passing, serving, hitting, and defensive play. Through competitive games and exercises, along with one-on-one instruction from the counselors, we hope that each camper will walk away instilled with a new love for the game.
Ages: 6th grade - 12th grades, ages 10 - 18
24-hour adult supervision provided by the Oneonta State Women's Volleyball team, as well as an on-site certified athletic trainer, and 24-hour campus security.
Cost: Resident- $390
Commuter- $250
*Groups of 6 or more from the same High School may deduct $10 from the full price of the camp for each applicant.
