Summer Youth Camps and Programs 2014
SUNY Oneonta hosts several summer programs for various interests and ages of youth. We host programs in sports, science, and music. Some of our programs are run by our own faculty, coaches and students, and some of the programs are run by outside private groups.
We support a strong safety program and welcome youth to campus to get a sample of the exciting activities taking place at our college. Check out our calendar and the individual camp links below, and please call 607-436-2077 for information that may not be answered here.
New York Summer Music Festival - NYSMF
The New York Summer Music Festival (www.nysmf.org) returns to SUNY Oneonta for its 9th season in 2014. (July 6 - August 2, 2014).
NYSMF is an international summer music camp for young musicians ages 11-25. Our faculty is drawn from the world's finest musical institutions, including Juilliard, Curtis, the Manhattan School of Music, Peabody, Eastman, the New York Pops Orchestra, among many others.
More than 600 outstanding young musicians from all over the world attend each season. NYSMF offers more than 50 ensembles and classes in classical, jazz, contemporary, chamber music, and more. Over 60 concerts are held each summer, primarily in SUNY Oneonta's Goodrich Theatre, located in the Fine Arts Building. All performances are free and the public is welcome to attend.
Included in the NYSMF free concert lineup are performances by our Visiting Artists. Our 2014 lineup includes legendary performers from The Philadelphia Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, the Chick Corea Band, the Vienna Philharmonic, the Maria Schneider Jazz Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony, and a very special Pops Music concert led by the Musical Director of the NY Pops Orchestra, Steven Reineke. Ken Chertow's Gold Medal Wrestling Training Camp is the nation's largest wrestling camp system and will be returning to SUNY Oneonta for the 7th straight year. We offer technique and training camps for wrestlers of all ages and skill levels. To request more information or a camp brochure, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 814-466-3466. Baseball World - CBW
Cooperstown Baseball World is the only week-long tournament camp of its kind, owned and run by baseball professionals. Each summer tournaments are offered in the 12u, 13u, 14u 1nd 16u age categories, It features a college atmosphere, skills competitions, a visit to the National Baseball Hall of Fame, strong family interaction and induction for the Players and Coaches into the National Youth Hall of Fame!
Each summer, CBW utilizes seven fields total; four on campus and three off campus fields in the town of Oneonta. Additionally, our complex is equipped with six Major League style batting cages.
With the idea of home and road games, the 14U - 16U games are played at three full sized, state-of-the-art fields: the State College at Oneonta Varsity Baseball Field, Damaschke Field, and the Neahwa Park Field. It is here at Damaschke Field that Babe Ruth played in the 20’s and where Bernie Williams, Andy Pettite, Al Leiter, and Jorge Posada all played in the 80’s and 90’s. This field was also home to the Detroit Tigers Class “A” team.
CBW hosts their Individual Skill Competitions as if it were a pro or college try-out giving a young player the experience of what needs to be done to make it in the Major Leagues! All winners are awarded a custom plaque, engraved with their category.
Go STEM: How It Works- 2014 Institute
The 4th annual Go STEM Institute for area students will focus on How it Works – Severe Weather and Climate Change. This 2014 summer program will run from July 14 -18, 2014 from 9-3 daily and will cost $50 including lunch. This Institute is for local sixth, seventh and eighth graders held at SUNY Oneonta. The Institute will offer students the opportunity to learn together on hands-on projects presented by College professors/scientists, middle school science teachers and college students studying to be science teachers.

SUNY Oneonta Women’s Basketball Coach
Cost: $195 per athlete
Competitive Basketball Players: 15, 16 or 17 years of age - looking to grow their game are encouraged to participate
SUNY Oneonta Women’s Basketball Camp
SUNY Oneonta Women’s Basketball will host a girl’s developmental overnight/commuter camp.
Camp counselors will include the present team members. The camp is designed to develop basic fundamentals of the game. Daily activities include: one on one and three on three instruction; fundamental stations; and games. The camp will be held July 20-23, for girls ages 10-18. A $35 non-refundable deposit is required with this application.
Registration form, Health form, Payment and emergency contact information form are required to attend camp.
Early Application Deadline:
You may deduct $10 if your application and full payment are received on or before June 3, 2014.
Groups of 5 or more from the same school may deduct $10 from the full price of the camp; provided all team members register together.
All registrations received after July 8, 2014 ; require payment in full at time of registration.
College United- Premier Field Hockey Camp
SUNY Oneonta will be hosting a Premier Field Hockey Camp July 20-23, 2014. Colleges United will bring together coaches from 8 different institutions for the ultimate field hockey experience. All skill sessions will take place on the campus’s premier All College astro turf field. Camp is open to ages 10-18. Resident campers $400 Commuter campers $350. Camp begins 12 noon on Sunday and ends 12 noon on Wednesday. Don’t miss out on this awesome opportunity!

Munchkin All-Sport Camp
This summer the SUNY Oneonta women's soccer team will present the 18th Annual Eastman Associates Munchkin All-Sport Camp. The Camp has blossomed into a local retreat for children to grow socially and recreate. Children will be exposed to games and skill instruction in a variety of activities to include: soccer, tennis, racquetball, track & field, kickball, basketball, badminton, volleyball and T-ball.
The camp will be held at SUNY Oneonta from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm daily with an option to stay until 4:00 pm for boys and girls 5-12 years old.
Each participant is asked to bring

|Oneonta Red Dragon Volleyball Camp
The Red Dragon Women’s Volleyball program will host a girls' general skills overnight/commuter camp. Camp counselors are members of the women’s volleyball team who stay on site with all campers. The camp is designed to develop and fine tune the correct fundamentals of setting, passing, serving, hitting, and defensive play. Through competitive games and exercises, along with one-on-one instruction from the counselors, we hope that each camper will walk away instilled with a new love for the game.
Ages: 6th grade - 12th grades, ages 10 - 18
24-hour adult supervision provided by the Red Dragon Women's Volleyball team, as well as an on-site certified athletic trainer, and 24-hour campus security.
Resident cost $350
Commuter cost $270

The Headwaters Soccer Camp is a non-profit service organization that operates seven consecutive day camps, with one being on the campus of SUNY Oneonta. The camp runs daily from 9:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday for boys and girls ages 7-17.
