This past fall, we updated our visual presentation of SUNY Oneonta’s Strategic Plan 2010–15 to more accurately reflect our mission. Instead of presenting our six goals as parallel pillars, we’ve moved Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship to the center. This presentation better shows the relationship between our core activities and the related goals of student engagement, diversity, community partnership, global connectedness and sustainability.
I’m pleased to report that we’ve made significant progress in our work to allocate funding strategically. The Budget Advisory Committee and Strategic Planning Council launched a new budget process called Strategic Allocation of Resources, or StAR, this past fall. Through the StAR process, all units of the college were invited to request funds for activities that help meet our strategic goals. A total of 40 proposals were submitted, and the college awarded more than $600,000 in full and partial funding for 18 projects.
In sync with our efforts to direct resources to the highest priority areas, our strategic goals are becoming increasingly evident in all that we do. From training outstanding science students to teach in high-need schools to hosting the inaugural SUNY-wide Pride Conference, our faculty, students and staff are engaging every day in activities rooted in our values. I’m proud to share a sample of the stories that demonstrate this shared commitment to reaching toward our aspirational goals.
