During the 2008-09 academic year, our campus began to implement our Strategic Action Plan on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. I am pleased with the progress we have made in the first 18 months, and I would like to share some highlights of the Progress Report with you:  

  • New initiatives helped increase the number of entering AALANA and international students.
     

  • Several procedures were adopted to help recruit a more diverse faculty and staff.
     

  • A mentoring program paired new employees with more experienced faculty and staff members.
     

  • The 2003 campus climate survey was repeated in fall 2009; results will be available soon.
     

  • Twenty IDEA grants totaling more than $43,000 were awarded for campus activities that support diversity.
