The college-wide response to the destruction caused by Hurricane Irene has broadened in the aftermath of last week's heavy rain, which caused record flooding in several areas between Oneonta and Binghamton. Center for Social Responsibility and Community Director Linda Drake continues to serve as point person for our expanded efforts.

The CSRC remains a clearinghouse to connect those in need with resources, and to match volunteers with relief projects. I encourage you to call the CSRC at ext. 2622 to take advantage of the following offerings:

Request Assistance with Clean-up
If flooding damaged your property, you may request assistance with clean-up by calling Monday-Friday, between 8 a.m.-4 p.m. If circumstances prevent you from calling during those times, please call and leave a message detailing your request. Your call will be returned as soon as possible.

Volunteer Your Service
There are many ways you can help those affected by the recent floods. Learn more about volunteering for ongoing and upcoming recovery projects through the CSRC.

Request or Donate Flood Relief Items
If you are in need of flood relief items, the CSRC may be able to provide them. This initiative has gotten underway recently, so the inventory may be limited right now. A list of available items can be found on the CSRC website.

The CSRC gladly will accept donations—except for clothing, which is handled through a separate process—during normal business hours. For a list of items in the greatest demand, visit the CSRC website.

Thanks once again to Linda and to everyone who has contributed their time or made a donation to help our neighbors in surrounding communities.
