The Keynote Speaker for the Spring, 2010 Undergraduate Political Science Conference at the Oneonta State College will be Professor Peter Balakian of Colgate University.

On March 20th 2010, Peter Balakian will deliver the keynote address on the Armenian genocide, and the human rights movement in response to that genocide, at the State University College at Oneonta. Peter Balakian is a poet, writer and academic, and Professor of Humanities at Colgate University. Balakian has spent decades unraveling his Armenian ancestry and, in the process, educating the world about the atrocities of the Armenian genocide. He is the recipient of many awards, prizes and civic citations, including a Guggenheim Fellowship, a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. He is a winner of 1998 PEN/Martha Albrand Prize for Memoir, and New York Times Notable Book Prizes. He has made numerous appearances on national television and radio.
