What's new?

The Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI), administered by the World Wide Web Consortium, provides a set of requirements that, if followed, will create webpages that are fully accessible to anyone who wishes to view them.  There are several levels of compliance with WAI standards, and pages on the Oneonta College Website that meet these levels of compliance will bear the WAI logo:

When this logo appears on a college webpage it also links to the WAI standards.  Eventually pages will appear with AA and AAA compliance logos.

Web Server Nomenclature

Computer Services uses several names for our Web servers to better serve your needs while authoring personal and departmental web pages. Use of these names will reduce the future inconvenience caused to users by changes in the web servers. Please use the following guidelines to determine the "alias" you should use to connect to your web files:

Employees editing their personal web space should use employees.oneonta.edu.

Employees editing departmental web space (academic and administrative departments) should use departments.oneonta.edu.

Students editing their personal web space should use students.oneonta.edu.

People editing organization pages (those with a web address starting with www.oneonta.edu/organizations) should use organizations.oneonta.edu.

People editing external pages (those a web address starting with www.oneonta.edu/external) should use external.oneonta.edu.

Please start utilizing these new names in place of webserver1 or webserver2 when authoring pages using tools like FTP, FrontPage, and mapping network drives.

Users may also use these aliases in published web addresses.  For example, if you have a website at http://www.oneonta.edu/faculty/username, that site is also accessible at http://employees.oneonta.edu/username.

We have also instituted a cap of 50 Megabytes for student webpages.  If students need more room for an authentic academic purpose, they should visit this page for more information.

Who is responsible for pages on the college web site?

Most of the pages on the site are organized according to which administrative division they fall under. A complete table of this directory structure is available for your use.
