Strategic Planning and Resource Council
The Strategic Planning and Resource Council (SPARC) developed SUNY Oneonta’s strategic plan to help define the college's future. Composed of faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members, SPARC was convened by President Nancy Kleniewski in August 2009, met throughout the following academic year, and presented the final draft of the the college’s “Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan 2010” to the College Senate for its adoption in April 2010.
SPARC formed three task forces to assist in its work:
Governing Ideas Task Force
This group was charged to draft the College’s Core Values, Mission (what we are/do), Vision (what we want to be) and Strategic Directions statements (goals and initiatives) based on comments gathered from stakeholders meetings, open forums and any comments submitted to it by members of the College community; prepare final drafts and report to SPARC.
Institutional Distinctiveness Task Force
This group was charged to establish the criteria and procedures for identifying, developing and assessing the College’s Distinctiveness through open forums and any comments submitted to it by members of the College Community; prepare recommendations and report to SPARC.
Organizational Structure Task Force
This group was charged to examine existing alignments of our functions and identify alternatives that could result in greater efficiency and/or synergy in the College’s operations; consider input gathered through the September environmental scan conducted by David McFarland and from the College community gathered through open forums; prepare recommendations and report to SPARC.
