National Novel Writing Month at Milne Library

November is National Novel Writing Month and Milne Library at SUNY Oneonta want to help you finish your novel in November! On Mondays throughout November in the Reading Room at 7pm, we will have cookies, coffee, and a comfortable space for you to do your writing.

What is National Novel Writing Month? (NaNoWriMo)

National novel writing month (NaNoWriMo) is an event devoted to creative writing. Starting on November 1, writers aim to complete a 50,000 word novel by 11:59pm on November 30. Sign up on nanowrimo.org for information, motivation, goodies, and prizes if you complete your novel.

What is Milne Library doing?

Milne Library is providing a space to write. We will provide cookies and coffee on Mondays in the Reading Room and an environment conducive to reading. On November 4, we will provide a short introduction to anyone new to NaNoWriMo, but after that we just want to see you writing! We are also offering prizes to NaNoWriMo winners!

Prizes?

NaNoWriMo sponsors offer prizes, discounts, and other goodies for participants and winners (those participants who were able to finish their 50,000 word novels on time.)

IN ADDITION, Milne Library is offering a prize to anyone who wins this year. If you complete your 50,000 word novel by the cut off, we will place your book in our catalog at www.oneonta.edu/library and, with your permission, make it available to download!

When you’ve completed your novel, send it to alvin.dantes@oneonta.edu for your prize from Milne Library.

So come on out! Write your novel at Milne Library!
