Online Databases for Finding Periodical Articles

What is a periodical? Periodical, magazine, and journal are three terms often used interchangeably. A periodical is a publication that comes out on a regular basis. It may be published daily, weekly, quarterly, or in some other increment. Information in periodicals tends to be more up to date and briefer than that in books. Periodicals are located alphabetically by title in the Periodical Room in the basement of the library.

What is a periodical index? Like the index in the back of a book that helps you locate specific content within the book, periodical indexes make it possible to find an article on a specific topic without leafing through numerous issues of periodicals. The following indexes are specifically useful for locating articles in the field of philosophy.
Does Milne Library subscribe to the magazine or journal? For those articles your search find that include only a citation and/or an abstract you will need to find and read the article. To find out if Milne has the journal in the library connect to Web OSCAR and type in a combination search that includes dt periodical and ti [words in title]

EXAMPLE: dt periodical and ti explicator
