Connecting to the webserver with Dreamweaver CS5 and newer (Mac + Win)

 
 
  1. Go to Site > New Site
  2. On the Site tab, add a descriptive Site Name and browse to a Local Site Folder (create a new folder on the desktop that will house a local copy of the files)
  3. On the Servers tab, click the + icon to add a new connection.
  4. Add a descriptive Server Name 
  5. Choose SFTP from the drop down menu next to Connect using
  6. Set the SFTP Address the appropriate path (DW will automatically move part of the address to Root Directory)
    1. www.oneonta.edu/<directoryname>/<foldername>
    2. students.oneonta.edu/username
    3. employees.oneonta.edu/<username>
    4. organizations.oneonta.edu/<foldername>
    5. external.oneonta.edu/<foldername>
  1. Enter Username & Password (Your Oneonta username/password)
  2. Click on the Advanced tab, and make sure the following two items are checked under Remote Server:
    1. Maintain synchronization information
    2. Automatically upload files to server on Save
  1. Click Save
  2. Click Save
  3. Always make sure you are working from the Remote Server
