IT Governance Structure

 
 

IT Governance at SUNY Oneonta has two main components: a broad-based governance structure lead by the Technology Steering Committee with subroups representing educational, administrative and student viewpoints, and application area specific steering committees for large product deployments such as the Banner Steering Committee(BSC), Web Advisory Group(WAG) and Portal Implementation Team(PIT).

Technology Steering Committees

The Educational Technology Committee (ETC) is a long-standing committee at the college, and has been advising IT on issues related to the educational mission of the college for many years. The IT Services Workgroup report of March, 2011 recommended the creation of a single IT governance structure to balance administrative and academic needs within IT. The ETC, in consultation with IT Services staff and college leadership, designed a new governance structure.

The governance structure is currently forming - the ETC is continuing to work as an existing committee, the Administrative Technology Committee (ATC) has been formed during the Fall 2012 semester, and formation of the Student Technology Committee (STC) along with the overall Technology Steering Committee (STC) is planned for the Fall 2013 semester.
