Red Dragons Reach NCAA Semifinals

The SUNY Oneonta men’s soccer team had its best season in nearly 40 years last fall, capturing the SUNY Athletic Conference title and advancing to the NCAA Division III semifinals in San Antonio, Texas, before falling to Calvin College, 4-2.
The Red Dragons finished with a record of 18-3-2 and were unbeaten in SUNYAC with an 8-0-1 record.
Six players were recognized by the Eastern College Athletic Conference as Division III Upstate New York All-Stars. Leading the group of honorees was freshman Justin Rivera, who was selected as the Rookie of the Year. Junior Eric Fortier and seniors Gary Laronde and Nicholas Gregg were named First Team All-Stars, while seniors Jonathan Kowalski and Maxwell Siegelman earned Second Team honors.

Fortier was also selected as the SUNYAC Player of the Year and is SUNY Oneonta's first men's soccer All-American since 1980. Laronde and Gregg were honored as National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Region selections.
“SUNY Oneonta is a great place for education and athletics,” said Gregg. “Everyone in the town and on campus has been so supportive and wants to see Oneonta athletics do well in every sport. To be part of Oneonta athletics is an honor and to help bring this school to this point was absolutely amazing.”
