Fall 2013 applications are now available online. Applications must be submitted through the SUNY Application or the Common Application. Applying online is easy, fast, and secure. Choose just one way to apply, as both require a $50 non-refundable application fee.
The State University of New York (SUNY) allows you to apply to 50 of the 64 colleges and universities in the SUNY system through one application. Please contact the SUNY Application Services Center with any processing questions.
The Common Application enables you to apply to any of the 456 participating colleges and universities nationwide with one application. Please contact the Common Application with any processing questions.
Early Action is a non-binding early application/notification program for Fall freshmen. If you are accepted through Early Action, you do not have to withdraw your applications at other institutions until May 1. The Early Action application deadline is November 15. The Office of Admissions will start making decisions on December 1, and all decisions will be made by January 1. To be considered for Early Action, please make sure you check "Early Action" on the application.
General Admissions students will receive decisions from the Office of Admissions after January 1 for the fall semester and after October 1 for the spring semester. The Office of Admissions will review applications on a rolling basis until institutional enrollment goals are met.
In addition to the standard required materials, homeschooled students must provide:
- an essay describing your educational program, special projects, extracurricular activities and special accomplishments; and
- two letters of recommendation, one from the parent or other person providing you education and one from a person involved with your other activities.
If admitted to SUNY Oneonta, you will need to submit a letter from the superintendent of your local school district attesting to your completion of a program of home instruction meeting the requirements of Section 100.10 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, or passing score on the GED.

There are no deadlines for transfer applications. It is recommended that applications be on file and completed by March 15 (fall applicants) or November 15 (spring applicants). Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Applications completed after the recommended filing dates will be considered on a space-available basis.
Students who have previously attended SUNY Oneonta and have not earned a degree are considered Re-admit Students and need to apply for Readmissions through Academic Advisement.
SUNY Oneonta is now accepting applications from prospective Educational Opportunity Program freshmen or transfer students for the Fall 2013 semester. For students wishing to apply for other semesters, applications must be submitted through the SUNY Application or the Common Application. Students submitting applications through the EOP may qualify for an application fee waiver for their first four campus choices. (Students who do not meet academic and economic guidelines will be billed for the fee).
Once all required materials are received by our Office of Admissions, a committee consisting of Admissions and Educational Opportunity Program staff will review applications on a rolling basis until institutional enrollment goals are met.
International students are encouraged to apply as early as possible. The deadline for degree-seeking and exchange students is November 16 for the Spring 2012 semester.
Required materials include the International Undergraduate Application.

To be considered for admission to any of SUNY Oneonta’s Graduate Programs, students must submit a completed application and the non-refundable fee; an official transcript of an earned bachelor’s degree from a regionally-accredited college or university.

The application deadline for continuing education students is the Friday of the first week of classes for any semester.
All students must fill out a Non-Degree Application, whether they are Pre-Matriculated students, Lifelong Learners, Visiting Students or Pre-Collegiate students.
