CHEM 514 Chemistry of the Environment
A survey of the fields of atmospheric chemistry and aquatic chemistry, with special focus on chemical aspects of current issues, such as ozone depletion, climate change, acid rain, water pollution, cycling of iron, manganese and other elements in natural waters, and industrial waste water treatment. In addition to tests and quizzes, a major paper on an environmental chemistry topic is required.
Prerequisite: GrS; 8 s.h. of general chemistry.
