ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Governor David Paterson has announced the
appointment of Suzanne Williams of Norwich to the College Council of the
SUNY College at Oneonta. Ms. Williams replaces James Piscitelli, who had
served on the Council since 2005.
Suzanne Williams served previously on the SUNY Oneonta College Council
from 1985 until 2002, and she has served as a member of the Norwich Common
Council.
Patrick Brown, Chair of the SUNY Oneonta College Council, commented on
Ms. Williams' appointment: "We are extremely pleased and very fortunate to
have someone with Suzanne Williams' background and experience join the
College Council. We look forward to working collaboratively with Ms.
Williams in support of the College."
Ms. Williams's career includes experience as an educator, the owner of a
bookstore, and a community volunteer.
Each state-operated campus in the SUNY system has its own College
Council. College Councils have specific statutory powers, such as naming
buildings and making regulations regarding student conduct. The members of
each council are appointed by the governor with the exception of the student
representative, who is elected by the student body.
