Theatre at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12, Wednesday, February 13, and
Thursday, February 14. Admission to the event is $5 with a SUNY-Oneonta

from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Members of the community are invited to attend.
The presentation is part of the students' 2008 V-Day Campaign, a local
component of the global movement to end violence against women and girls
that raises funds and awareness through benefit productions of
playwright/founder Eve Ensler's award-winning The Vagina Monologues. Now
in its tenth year, the V-Day movement has raised over $50 million and
educated millions about the issue of violence against women and the efforts
to end it, crafted international educational campaigns, and funded over 5000
community-based anti-violence programs and safe houses in the U.S. and
internationally. More information about the campaign is available at
www.vday.org.
The event at SUNY-Oneonta is an installment in a series to raise money
and awareness about ending violence against women and children locally. The
students are working with Opportunities for Otsego and the Violence
Intervention Program to raise funds for their programs that help women and
children attempting to overcome violence.
The local events are being coordinated by Veronica Acevedo, a senior at
SUNY-Oneonta majoring in Child and Family Studies and Theatre, who serves as
President of the Human Ecology Club and Phi Upsilon Omicron. More
information is available from Ms. Acevedo at (607) 436-1927.
