Department of the SUNY College at Oneonta has been named the recipient
of the College's 2008
Academic
Excellence Award for the Use of Instructional Technology. She will
receive the award at a dessert reception in the Craven Lounge of the Morris

she and her students will offer a presentation about their use of the
virtual world Second Life to promote and produce concerts and other events.
Admission to the event is complimentary, and members of the community are
invited to attend.
A member of the SUNY-Oneonta Music Department faculty since 1970, Dr. Nepkie

which now has nearly 600 majors. She was promoted to Distinguished Service
Professor, the highest faculty rank in SUNY, in 2007.
An accomplished musician who has performed as principal cellist for the
Catskill Symphony, Utica Symphony, and Glimmerglass Opera, Dr. Nepkie served

holds a doctorate from New York University.
Now in its seventh year, the Academic Excellence Award for the Use of
Instructional Technology is made possible in part by the gifts of College at
Oneonta alumni to the Alumni Annual Fund. In recognition of the award, Dr.
Nepkie will receive $1,000 from the College's Fund for Academic Excellence,
and the Music Department will receive funds to purchase technology or to
bring in a distinguished speaker on technology.
