ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The SUNY College at Oneonta honored 248 students
during its annual Community of Scholars/Students of Distinction reception on
May 7 in the Craven Lounge of the Morris Conference Center. College
President Alan B. Donovan and Provost F. Daniel Larkin welcomed the
participants and recognized the students.
The Students of Distinction include six SUNY-Oneonta students who were
named recipients of the 2008 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence,
43 recognized as Best and Brightest for the Fall 2007 semester and 56
recognized as Best and Brightest for the Spring 2008 semester, and 143 May
2008 graduates who earned All-College Honors.
The SUNY College at Oneonta, which enrolls over 5,800 students, is a
liberal arts college with a pre-professional focus. Established as a state
normal school in 1889 and incorporated as a founding member of the state
university system in 1948, the College is well known for its outstanding
faculty, strong academic programs, educational technology, community service
and character-building activities, and scenic campus.
