ONEONTA, N.Y. -- “SHADOW,” a multi-media exhibition by six artists of Asian Pacific heritage, will open November 15 in the Martin-Mullen Art Gallery in the SUNY Oneonta Fine Arts Building. A public reception will be held from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, November 18, and the exhibition will be on display through December 17.
The installation will include Nihonga painting, large-scale woodcuts, video, oil painting, photography, and digital prints contributed by Jian Cui, Makato Fujimura, Misako Oba, Joo Yeon Woo, Caomin Xie, and Phillia Changhi Yi. The exhibition title, “SHADOW,” suggests the influences cast on the artists’ work by their own diverse cultural and personal experiences, and the casting of new shadows of influence by the artists, themselves.
The Martin-Mullen Art Gallery is open to the public 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday when the college is in session, and admission is complimentary. More information about the gallery or upcoming exhibitions is available from Gallery Director Tim Sheesley at (607) 436-2445, or at www.oneonta.edu/academics/art/gallery.html.
