ONEONTA, N.Y. - Anthony Scafide of the SUNY Oneonta Music Industry program presented a paper titled "Online Development and Facilitation of Student Internships Through Web 2.0—Technology, Management Systems, and Data Driven Metrics" at the 2011 International Conference on Education, Research and Technology held Nov. 14-16 in Madrid, Spain. Known as ICERI2011, the event was an international forum for scholars and academic researchers to share their projects and innovations.
Scafide’s research focuses on management of graduate and undergraduate student internships using Web 2.0 technology. He has developed an online environment to integrate the collection of data from all three participants of an internship: the host, the student and the internship administrator. With software and web programming developed by Scafide and his associates, university internship administrators will be able to better manage internships remotely and control costs, such as those related to travel and lodging.
Scafide joined the SUNY Oneonta faculty in fall 2007 and became a tenure-track member in 2008. He has taught several courses within the college's Music Industry program and published the music text "A Music Industry Workbook" in August.
