ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Professor Tony Scafide of the SUNY Oneonta Music Department will take part in the International Conference of Education, Research and Innovation held November 15-17 in Madrid, Spain. Known as ICERI 2010, the event is an International Forum for scholars and academic researchers to share their projects and innovations.
Scafide was chosen to present his paper entitled "Social Media, Publishing, Intellectual Property and the Digital Music Download Become the New Hedge Fund and Corporate Diversification Model." While organizers expect more than 600 attendees from 65 countries, Scafide is only one of 10 educators from the United States asked to present at the conference.
An award-winning composer and recording industry veteran, Scafide's professional experience includes working at Philips Media, New World Records and E-1 Entertainment. In 1998 he founded Generation Media, a marketing and public relations company that he sold to business partners in 2008.
Scafide joined the SUNY Oneonta faculty in the fall of 2007 and became a tenure track member in 2008. His current courses at the college include "Music and the Marketplace," "History of Record Labels in Popular Culture," and "Blues Ensemble."
