ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Dr. Alan
Chartock--executive publisher of the Legislative Gazette, host of
the weekly Capitol Connection public radio series, and President of
National Public Radio affiliate WAMC--will present the keynote address at
the first annual
Undergraduate Political Science Conference at the SUNY College at
Oneonta on Saturday, March 21, at 1:30 p.m. in the Craven Lounge of the
Morris Conference Center. Admission to the event is complimentary, and
members of the community are invited to attend.
Chartock, Professor Emeritus at SUNY Albany, is best known as the host of
the weekly Capitol
Connection series, which features interviews with New York state
political leaders. He also appears each week on The Media Project on
WAMC and offers commentary on other WAMC
programs such as Midday Magazine. His syndicated column on politics
appears in newspapers throughout New York state.
Dr. Chartock received many awards during his career at SUNY including the
Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching and the SUNY Council for
University Advancement Award for Educational Achievement. He holds honorary
doctorates from the Sage Colleges and from Western New England College.
Chartock is the author of the book Me and Mario Cuomo: Conversations
in Candor. He is the executive publisher and project director of the
Legislative Gazette,
the newspaper of New York state government.
Dr. Chartock will appear at SUNY Oneonta as part of the two-day
Undergraduate Political Science Conference at which undergraduate students
from colleges throughout the Northeast will present their original
analytical papers in the field of political science. More information about
