ONEONTA, N.Y. -- OnMark, the Marketing Club of the SUNY College at Oneonta, placed seventh of 190 colleges and universities in the nationwide competition at the American Marketing Association Intercollegiate Conference in New Orleans earlier this month.
Clubs were judged on a number of factors, including professional development, community service, web presence, overall operations, internal and external communications, and presentations. OnMark received high grades for its chapter plan and annual report.
The top six finishers in the competition were large universities with undergraduate populations of 25,000 or more students. SUNY Oneonta has approximately 5,800 students.
Three SUNY Oneonta students--Chris Ulrich, Zishan Wariach, and Yiannis Halvatzis-- conducted a “Leadership Session” at the conference to advise other students about ways to have their clubs excel in a small-college environment. A total of 24 SUNY Oneonta students participated in the conference.
OnMark, which has more than 100 members, is sponsored by the SUNY Oneonta Student Association and four area businesses: Otsego Physical Medicine, Karma Spa & Boutique, Grafiqa, and Domino’s.
OnMark is advised by Associate Professor Stephen Walsh of the SUNY Oneonta Department of Management, Marketing, and Information Systems. More information about OnMark is available on the club’s website at http://organizations.oneonta.edu/marketing/
