ONEONTA, N.Y. -- President Nancy Kleniewski of the SUNY College at Oneonta will welcome participants to the 2010 New York College Learning Skills Association (NYCLSA) Symposium, which is sponsored by the College. The gathering will be held on Monday, April 12, at the Woodcliff Hotel in Fairport.
The symposium will be chaired by Amy Crouse-Powers of the SUNY Oneonta Center for Academic Development and Enrichment, who is president-elect of the association. Dr. Julie Freeman, Acting Dean of Science and Social Science at SUNY Oneonta, and staff members Sheila Simon and Rita Richards of the Center for Academic Development and Enrichment will present at the conference.
The keynote speaker for this year's event is SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor Kenneth Takeuchi of the University at Buffalo. Mediation expert Duke Fisher will present a kickoff session, and over 30 concurrent academic presentations will be offered.
The NYCLSA symposium is attended by learning-support professionals from across the state. Founded in 1979, the New York College Learning Skills Association is a chapter of the National Association for Developmental Education. The association has approximately 250 members.
