ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Hundreds of alumni, parents, family members, and
friends will visit the SUNY College at Oneonta for Homecoming & Family
Weekend on October 17-19. The weekend will include the Saturday-evening
Homecoming Concert featuring comedian Christian Finnegan at 9 p.m. in the
Dewar Arena of the Alumni Field House. Other events on Saturday include the
annual craft fair, the tenth annual induction into the College's Athletic
Hall of Fame, athletic competitions, and a range of entertainment options.
Admission to many of the events is complimentary, and community members are
invited to participate.
Events on Friday, October 17, include a presentation by Adirondack
storyteller Bill Smith at 7:30 p.m. in the longhouse at the
College Camp off Upper
East Street.
On Saturday, October 18, at 10 a.m. in the Alumni Field House, seven
alumni athletes and one team of distinction will be inducted as the tenth
class to enter the College's
Athletic
Hall of Fame. The
inductees are Richard C. Bunde '75, gymnastics; James P. Burr '68,
soccer; Thomas Cannistra '70, basketball; Paula Polce Chard '02, basketball;
Dr. Gladstone A. Hutchinson '83, soccer; Elizabeth A. McGrail '01, soccer,
basketball, and softball; Julie M. Merchant '84, field hockey; and the
1976-77 men's basketball team.
The popular Homecoming & Family Weekend Craft Fair will be held in the
ballroom of the Hunt College Union from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Over 75 crafters will feature a wide variety of items at this year's show.
Admission and parking are complimentary.
On Saturday at 12:30 p.m., the College will re-dedicate its Science
Building I, which re-opened this semester following extensive renovations.
At 2 p.m., a program on owls will be offered at the College Camp. At 3 p.m.,
a Greek Life reception for students and alumni will be held in the Hunt
Union Butternut Valley Room.
On Saturday at 1 p.m., the men's soccer team will take the field against
Hobart, and the women's field hockey team will play Union.
