ONEONTA, N.Y. -- A group of
Education majors at the
SUNY College at Oneonta will sponsor a penny social in support the
Harvest of Hope Foundation from
1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, at the Moose Lodge at 87 West
Broadway in Oneonta. Admission to the event is complimentary, and members of
the community are invited to attend.
At the penny social, raffle tickets will be sold for chances to win
donated items, gift baskets, and gift certificates for local restaurants and
movies. Food will also be available for purchase. Proceeds will benefit the
general emergency fund of the Harvest of Hope Foundation to provide
financial aid to migrant farmworkers and families across the country for
necessities such as car repairs, rent, utility payments, medical services,
clothing, food, and funeral expenses.
The penny social is being organized as a service-learning experience by
students in Education block 28 at SUNY Oneonta. More information about the

The Harvest of Hope of Hope Foundation was established in 1997 in Oneonta
as a charitable non-profit organization to assist migrant farmworkers and
families across the country. To date, Harvest of Hope has distributed more
than $678,000 in emergency and educational aid. More information about the
