SUNY ONEONTA EDUCATION MAJORS TO SPONSOR PENNY SOCIAL FOR HARVEST OF HOPE FOUNDATION

ONEONTA, N.Y. -- A group of Education majors at the SUNY College at Oneonta will sponsor a penny social in support the Harvest of Hope Foundation from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, at the Moose Lodge at 87 West Broadway in Oneonta. Admission to the event is complimentary, and members of the community are invited to attend.

At the penny social, raffle tickets will be sold for chances to win donated items, gift baskets, and gift certificates for local restaurants and movies. Food will also be available for purchase. Proceeds will benefit the general emergency fund of the Harvest of Hope Foundation to provide financial aid to migrant farmworkers and families across the country for necessities such as car repairs, rent, utility payments, medical services, clothing, food, and funeral expenses.

The penny social is being organized as a service-learning experience by students in Education block 28 at SUNY Oneonta. More information about the event and about donating items is available from Megan Magliocca at (518) 866-1208 or by e-mail to maglm40@oneonta.edu.
