ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The SUNY College at Oneonta has announced the appointment of Hal S. Legg as its new Director of Communications, effective on August 10.
As Director of Communications, Mr. Legg will be responsible for the College’s internal campus-wide communications as well as external communications with the media and other off-campus groups, administrative oversight of the College’s public radio station (WUOW) and Creative Media Services, and coordinating the communication activities of several campus offices to develop and maintain a coordinated communications strategy for the College.
Mr. Legg will also serve as the College Spokesperson for SUNY Oneonta.
Mr. Legg comes to SUNY Oneonta from Genesee Community College, where he has served as the College’s Recruitment Communications Specialist since 1997. His background includes professional experience in journalism, government relations, and video, magazine, and newspaper production. He holds a master’s degree in public administration from SUNY Brockport and a bachelor’s degree in communications from SUNY Geneseo.
His civic roles in western New York included service as a Trustee of the Village of Brockport, Director of the Greater Brockport Development Corporation, and Vice President of the Genesee Education Association.
Mr. Legg, his wife, and their children plan to relocate to the Oneonta area.
