ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The Red Dragon, mascot of the SUNY College at
Oneonta, will be wearing a different color during the week of April 19-24 as
the College offers Green Dragon Week, a celebration of events related to
Earth Day. The College will offer a series of concerts, speakers, films, and
exhibits to inform people about the ecological crises facing the planet and
to provide information on how to support the planet.
The events of Green Dragon Week will begin with an outdoor concert in the
campus quad from noon until 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, sponsored by Rock
to Cure and the Sigma Delta Tau sorority food drive.
A special presentation by Fred Stoss of The Climate Project, a nonprofit
organization with the mission of increasing public awareness of the climate
crisis at a grassroots level,
will address how college campuses can meet the challenges posed by global
warming. He will appear on Monday, April 21, at 7 p.m. in the Red Dragon
Theatre of the Hunt College Union.
On Earth Day, Tuesday, April 22, an Earth Day market will be held in the
International Lounge of the Hunt College Union from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Tracie Hall of the U.S. Green Building Council will speak at 6:30 p.m. on
Wednesday, April 23, in the Craven Lounge of the Morris Conference Center.
