ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Dr. Allan Green of the Bassett Research Institute
and the Department of
Chemistry and Biochemistry at the SUNY College at Oneonta will offer a
presentation entitled "Fat Cells, Fatty Acids and Type 2 Diabetes" on
Friday, May 1, at 4 p.m. in room 132 of the Human Ecology Building at SUNY
Oneonta. Admission to the event is complimentary, and members of the
community are invited to attend.
Dr. Green will discuss the relationships among fat cells, fatty acids,
and type 2 diabetes. He will explore the regulation of adipocyte lipolysis
and its importance in understanding the relationship between obesity and
diabetes. Research has identified novel mechanisms for regulation of
adipocyte lipolysis, and the findings suggest new targets for development of
drugs to prevent or treat type 2 diabetes.
More information on Dr. Green's presentation is available from Dr. John
Schaumloffel of the SUNY Oneonta Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at
(607) 436-3432.
