ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The tenth annual Faculty Research Show at the SUNY College at Oneonta will highlight a wide range of research projects conducted by SUNY Oneonta faculty. The show will be held in the Morris Conference Center on Friday, February 12, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is complimentary, and members of the community are invited to attend.

The celebration of faculty research will begin with the Faculty Research Show Breakfast Convivium at the Morris Conference Center from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on February 12. The breakfast will feature a presentation by 1979 SUNY Oneonta alumnus Dr. Jeffrey Barnett, Professor of Psychology at Loyola University Maryland. Recipient of the 2009 American Psychological Association Award for Distinguished Contributions to the Independent Practice of Psychology, Dr. Barnett will speak on "Ethics Issues in Scholarship: Challenges, Reminders and Suggestions."

Presented through posters, computer displays, and other exhibits, more than 70 projects representing the work of over 130 SUNY Oneonta faculty members and collaborating authors from a number of affiliated institutions will be featured at the Faculty Research Show. The event is designed to spotlight the excellent and diverse research conducted at SUNY Oneonta. Ranging from the natural and applied sciences to humanities and arts to social sciences, the projects on display will include the following:

  • Sven Anderson (Art Department), "Digital Painting from Cell Phone Composites"
  • Sallie Han (Anthropology), "Giving Birth Like a Cavewoman: The Uses of Anthropology in Childbirth Education"
  • Willard N. Harman, Matthew Albright, Holly Waterfield (Biological Field Station), "2009 Student-Facilitated Research at the Biological Field Station"
  • Steven Perry (Student Development), Patricia Francis (Institutional Assessment & Effectiveness), "SUNY Student Opinion Survey: 2009 Results, Trends Over Time and SUNY Comparisons"
  • Donna Vogler (Biology), Kristin Dorsch (student), "Turf Wars: Using Native Plants to Reduce Wildlife Attraction at General Aviation Airports"
