SUNY ONEONTA TO OFFER MASTER'S IN EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY

ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The SUNY College at Oneonta will soon begin offering a new Master of Science in Education program in Educational Technology, according to an announcement today by SUNY Oneonta Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs F. Daniel Larkin. The College recently received approval from the State Education Department to offer the program.

The program is designed to provide certified elementary and secondary teachers with a greater understanding of the teaching-learning process and specifically to develop skills in employing multiple technologies to enhance students' performance. Teachers who complete the program will be eligible for initial certification as Educational Technology specialists and will be eligible for professional certification in both Educational Technology and in the discipline of their initial certification.

Applications for the program are now available for the fall and spring semesters. The program will offer courses in the late afternoon and evening so that working teachers will be able to enroll. Undergraduate students who have earned initial licensure to teach will also be eligible to enroll in the program.

More information about the program is available from Dr. Joanne Curran, Associate Dean of Education at SUNY Oneonta, at (607) 436-2541.
