SUNY ONEONTA TO PRESENT 17th INTERNATIONAL COOPER CONFERENCE
 

ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The seventeenth International James Fenimore Cooper Conference and Seminar will be presented by the English Department of the SUNY College at Oneonta from July 12 through July 17. The seminar theme for this year is "Global Cooper," and sessions will focus on Cooper's European novels and travel writings and their influence on his thinking about American culture and politics.

Dr. Lance Schachterle, President of the James Fenimore Cooper Society and editor-in-chief of the "Writings of James Fenimore Cooper" series, will present this year's keynote address.
Since 1978, the International James Fenimore Cooper Conference has attracted scholars from across the country and around the world to the SUNY Oneonta campus to present papers on the significance of America's first novelist.
