ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Jeremy Wall and Colby Thomas, faculty members in
the Music Department
of the SUNY College at Oneonta, will present a duet recital for piano and
voice at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 16, in the Goodrich Theater of the
College's Fine Arts Building. Admission to the event is complimentary, and
members of the community are invited to attend.
The duet recital for piano and voice will feature an hour-long program of
musical selections, ranging from the work of Frederic Chopin to Joni
Mitchell.
Colby
Thomas, a 1984 graduate who returned to teach at SUNY Oneonta in 2004,
is an internationally acclaimed soprano. From 1992 to 2001, she played
Christine in the Hamburg Production of Phantom of the Opera directed
by Hal Prince. She has also starred in touring companies of Oklahoma!
and The King and I with Stacey Keach and in several off-Broadway
productions. Thomas, who holds a master's degree in vocal performance from
Syracuse University, has recorded three commercially released albums.
Jeremy
Wall, who has taught at SUNY Oneonta since 2002, is a pianist, composer,
and producer for Spyro Gyra. He received an individual Grammy nomination for
Best Pop Instrumental Song in 1992 for his composition "Shakedown" and
several nominations as a member of the group. He has recorded extensively as
producer, keyboardist, composer, and arranger in all genres of music, having
released over 70 of his own compositions. Wall, who holds a master's degree
from SUNY Purchase and a bachelor's degree from the California Institute of
the Arts, taught previously at Ramapo College and SUNY Purchase.
