ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The Center for Multicultural Experiences at the
SUNY College at Oneonta will host "Speak Up: A Workshop on Activism, Freedom
of Speech, and Social Change" from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, February 8,
at the center in Lee Hall. Admission to the event is complimentary, and
members of the community are invited to attend.
The workshop is designed to help participants learn positive social
change tactics and how to counter inflammatory messages. Sessions will cover
topics such as hate speech, free speech, legal issues, protestors' safety,
creative activism, and options for responding.
The workshop is sponsored by the SUNY Oneonta
Gender and
Sexuality Resource Center,
Center for Multicultural
Experiences,
Hunt College Union, and
Open Minded Unity with support from the
Student
Association.
