ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Dr.
Christopher Keegan of the
Africana and Latino
Studies and
Philosophy Departments of the SUNY College at Oneonta will present a
lecture entitled "The Morality of Dealing Drugs" as an installment of
the "Philosophy Outside the Margins" faculty-lecture series at the College's
Center for Multicultural
Experiences in Lee Hall at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 8. Admission to
the event is complimentary, and members of the community are invited to
attend.
Dr. Keegan's discussion engages and attacks the issue of drug dealing as
an economic means of support.
Dr. Keegan, who joined the SUNY-Oneonta faculty in 2006, holds a
doctorate in philosophy from the University at Buffalo. His teaching and
research interests include the moral and political philosophies of
liberation, protest, and democracy, especially in relation to traditionally
disenfranchised and politically excluded communities.
The "Philosophy Outside the Margins" lecture series is being presented in
honor of the late Professor Emeritus Ralph Watkins of the SUNY-Oneonta
History and Africana and Latino Studies Departments, who passed away last
year. A specialist in African-American and American history, Professor
Watkins taught at the College for over 30 years and served as Chair of the
Africana and Latino Studies Department for more than a decade.
More information about the series is available from the Center for
Multicultural Experiences at (607) 436-2663.
