ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The SUNY Oneonta Concert Choir will present its fall concert on Tuesday, November 30, at 7:30 p.m. in the Hunt College Union Ballroom on campus. For the first time ever, the college's Brass Ensemble and percussionists will join the choir for two featured selections on this year's program. Admission to the performance is complimentary, and members of the community are invited to attend.
Under the direction of Professor Ben Aldridge, the Brass Ensemble will perform the sonata from “Die Bankelsangerlieder,” Debussy's “Jimbo’s Lullaby,” “In Modo Religioso” by Glazounov, and Irving Berlin’s standard, “Puttin’ on the Ritz.”
The Concert Choir will perform a pair of contrasting Latin American works by Sid Robinovitch: “Sensemaya” and “Olvido.” Also on the program are Marcos Liete's “Tres Cantos Nativos Dos Indio Krao,” inspired by the Amazon Rain Forest, plus “Somebody to Love” and “Hey Mambo.”
More information about the concert is available from Dr. Robert Barstow, chair of the SUNY Oneonta Music Department, at (607) 436-3412.
