ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The SUNY College at Oneonta Foundation was recently honored with its second consecutive four-star “exceptional” rating by Charity Navigator, the leading independent charity evaluator in America. The College Foundation is one of only 19% of charities nationwide to receive consecutive four-star ratings.
The rating is based on the College Foundation’s commitment to sound fiscal management and its ability to deliver on its mission.
In a letter informing the College Foundation of the honor, Charity Navigator President Ken Berger stated that the designation “differentiates State University College at Oneonta Foundation Corporation from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.”
In developing its ratings, Charity Navigator applies data-driven analysis to the charitable sector. The organization, which evaluates 10 times more charities than any similar organization, has been recognized for its work by “Forbes,” “Business Week,” and “Kiplinger's.” Charity Navigator’s ratings are particularly relevant at a time in which more donors are seeking greater accountability from the organizations they support.
“The generosity of our donors through their charitable investments in the SUNY Oneonta College Foundation provides exceptional opportunities for our students, our college, and our communities,” said Paul J. Adamo, executive director of the Foundation and vice president for college advancement at SUNY Oneonta. “We’re proud that Charity Navigator again recognized the commitment and responsibility we feel to the donors who support the work of the Foundation and the college,” he added.
The mission of the State University College at OneontaFoundation is to raise and administer gifts and grants to enhance the academic status of the college through endowment, scholarships and institutional programs.
