SUMMIT AT SUNY ONEONTA AIMS TO GIVE
TENTH GRADE STUDENTS TOOLS
TO SUCCEED AT COLLEGE

ONEONTA, N.Y. -- On Monday, April 11, the Hunt College Union at SUNY Oneonta will host more than 350 area tenth-graders at the campus’ first ever Sophomore Summit. The event, organized by the college’s Admissions Office in conjunction with College for Every Student (CFES), will provide participants with a variety of information andresources for their college searches.

According to SUNY Oneonta Associate Director of Admissions Rebecca Lynch, who helped to convene the Summit, representatives from more than 25 colleges from across the Leatherstocking region will attend to speak with students about applying for admission, financial aid, academic expectations, and career choices. Workshops and panel discussions will address issues such as extracurricular activities, athletics, and the social aspects of college life.

CFES is a national non-profit organization that helps underserved students succeed academically in high school and college. Its mission is to create a culture of college, especially among students in rural areas who are often the first in their families to consider post-secondary education. CFES President Rick Dalton will join the college and local CFES Coordinator Dennis Fahey to welcome students to Sophomore Summit.

Additional information about CFES and Sophomore Summit is available by contacting Fahey at (413) 485-8161 or dennisfahey@comcast.net and on CFES Website at www.collegefes.org.
