NEW CAFE AT SUNY ONEONTA RECEIVES TOP DESIGN AWARD

ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The upstate New York and eastern Canada chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) has awarded the SUNY Oneonta Br@in Cafe in Wilsbach Hall first place in the Hospitality Category of the 2009 Calling All Designers Interior Design Competition. The cafe was designed by King & King Architects LLP of Syracuse and is operated by Oneonta Auxiliary Services at SUNY Oneonta.

For the competition, the ASID judging panel of industry professionals included several interior designers, an architect, and an industry partner. The entries were judged on a number of factors, including how well the design solution work for the intended use, the satisfaction of the client’s objectives, and the aesthetics of the project as a total design.

The Br@in Cafe at SUNY Oneonta, which opened last fall, provides early-morning and late-night refreshments for students in a relaxed atmosphere with movable furniture that is conducive to study and quiet conversation.

The design award for the cafe will be presented at the ASID Network Event in Albany on September 12.
