ONEONTA, N.Y. -- New York Governor David Paterson has announced the appointment of Carol Blazina of Oneonta to the College Council of the State University of New York College at Oneonta. She will fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of John Henry Young. Her term will run through June 30, 2011.
Blazina was employed by the College from 1966-2010, and held both faculty and administrative positions during her tenure there. She was vice president for community relations at the time of her retirement earlier this year, serving as the College’s spokesperson and coordinating its public, community, and governmental relations efforts. Blazina is a 2001 recipient of the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service.
Each state-operated campus in the SUNY system has its own College Council. The members of each council are appointed by the governor to seven-year terms with the exception of the student representative, who is elected by the student body.
